About our Call course.

To tell truth, when I studied in this class, English 396-k, I got a lot of fun. We practiced our English skills by using some basic computer skills. We did podcast; we made slideshow and we write some small essay for some interesting topic. In the beginning of the semester, I thought this class may be boring and we cannot learn anything, but I was wrong. We got this opportunity to access a undergraduate course and it is really helped us to adapt to future education in American campus. However, there are several points I think the course can get improved. Using blog should not be required on writing some particular topic, and it may limit the function of blog after students leave the class. Also, I believe Dreamweaver is powerful tool, and maybe we should talk more about how to use it. It could improve the quality of students’ work.

Problems we faced in final project.

For the final project, our topic is about technology, and it is a really wide topic. I choose to write about the big dog which is invented by the Boston Dynamics, but my partner wants to write about ancient technology. I know, it is still too wide and we should narrow it. My partner’s topic is too far away to my topic and we do not know how to make some association between our topics. Also, it is hard for us to find some references, and if find some, we need to paraphrase and work on citation. We need do a lot on that. However, our team will try our best to overcome these problem and we believe everything will be solved.

New York

In the spring break, I went to New York in ELP trip. There are almost 50 students in the tour and most of them are Chinese, and also my friends, so I had a happy trip there. It is my first time went to New York and the first impression of this city is dirty, because the day we arrive was rainy and everything is in the dark. However, in the days later, I changed my mind. New York is a motivate city. Everything happened in a hurry. People walk faster, car driver find the faster way. Everyone seems to be busy, but everyone looks happy. My favorite thing in the New York is the show near Time Square. We watched a music drama, In the Heights. It talked about the relationship of the neighborhood. We have fun that night.
Generally, the trip brought some happiness into my boring studying life in the U.S.

Tales and Me

Last semester, I have two roommates coming from Brazil and one of them becomes my best friends. His name is tales, and I cannot remember his name in portage, because it is too hard for a Chinese student to remember his full name. Both of us like to play soccer, and we always play gym. Also, we played winning 11. He played a little bit better than me.
Because he is an exchange student, he just studied here for one semester. Now, he is gone.
Before he went back to Brazil, he wished to find something about China, so I take him to Chinatown in Chicago. We went there in the morning. It is cold and windy, and maybe that why Chicago is named wind city. We had a lunch in Chinatown, and the food there is delicious. Even though he did not like spicy, he tried some. On some regions, spicy are special dishes. Over all, he is start to like Chinese food.
After that, we went all stores in Chinatown, but it is old and nothing special for me.

Indoor Soccer

From last week, I begin to play a game which named indoor soccer with the international students at PUC. I began to play soccer 14 years ago, but I never played indoor soccer until I came to America. At first, it was hard for me to find some friends to play. Several months later, I found that many international students play indoor soccer in gym. Some people who never played soccer may think that there is not different between indoor soccer and regular soccer. However, it is totally different except that all the game required using foot, not hand. In regular soccer, team work is most important thing in the whole game, but in the indoor soccer, individual skill is more effective than anything else. Also, the court of indoor soccer is much smaller than regular one. The most ridicules thing is that there is rule named “no out", which means there is not border. Therefore, some players try their best to persist the ball on the opposite half court. In addition, there is not polite in the indoor soccer. Most players are rude. They use their body energy instead of intelligence.
I believe soccer should be a comedy which is filled by intelligence, manner, enthusiasm and enjoyment.

My parents have a deep influence on my career!

I will study Mechanical engineering. It is my dream that to be an engineer and invent new stuff or improve some old things.
The reason why I choose this major is that I get a deep influence from my parents. Both of my parents are working in mechanical area, and I began to touch mechanical stuff since I was born. At that time, my family was really poor, and we lived in a factory. And my father just learned how to design crane by himself. At same time, he began to own his company which is produce crane. Since that time, I always live in a mechanical surrounding. Even though my father just graduated from elementary school, he is a successful business man. I learn many things from him, but the most important thing is that, degree is less important than the knowledge you own.
For the young relatives, I want to say:” Do whatever you want to do, and never give up. The only way you can be successful is that fall in love with your career.”

I like the Grand Canyon!

In the winter vacation, I did not go back to China, and I chose to have a trip to California and some state near it. My friends and I stay there for 8 days, and also we went to Las Vegas for few days. In these days, the most amazing place I visited was the Grand Canyon which is the biggest canyon in the world.

We went there at morning and fortunately the weather of day is really good after many days snow. It is the first time I went to the national park like this which make me have a strong feeling to expecting enjoying the surrounding every day. I can feel that I want to belong to the real nature environment and become parts of the wonder of the nature. I walked around always by myself and went to some area which is nobody there so that I could enjoy the whole scenery without others interrupt. I even can hear the wind from the bottom of the canyon. Sometimes, I stand on the edge of the cliff, the nearest position to the Grand Canyon, even though I know that it may be dangerous.

One thing I did not sacrifice with is that I did not have enough time to down to the bottom of the grand canyon. It would be fantastic to have trip in it and through the entire canyon by boat or hiking. For instead, I just stay for few hours because of the schedule of the tour.
